Nobel Prize winner Professor William Campbell will perform the official opening of the newly-refurbished science facilities at Errigal College, Letterkenny, next Tuesday 27th September 2016 at 2.30pm.
Professor Campbell and the chief executive of Donegal ETB Anne McHugh will plant a tree outside the school to mark the occasion.
Professor Campbell, a Ramelton native, won the Nobel Prize in 2015 in the Physiology and Medicine category after discovering a therapy against infections caused by roundworms.
He has also helped to discover a class of drugs which can kill parasites which cause river blindness and Lymphatic filariasis (elephantiasis).
He has also discovered a fungicide which destroys potato blight.
Professor Campbell is now a research fellow emeritus at Drew University in Massachusetts in the USA.
