Figures released by the INMO today show that 20 people are currently waiting for a bed in Letterkenny University Hospital.
12 are waiting on trolleys, and 8 are waiting in ward overflow areas.
This follows yesterday’s appeal from Saolta, the company which oversees Letterkenny University Hospital, urging people to only go to the Emergency Department in the case of a real emergency.
Yesterday 30 patients were waiting in the Emergency Department.
Nationally, today has been one of the busiest days in September for Irish hospitals as 338 people wait for a bed; 266 wait on trolleys and 72 wait on wards.
