Do you want to learn how to look after your precious family photographs?
Working with Donegal County Museum, a hands-on photography archiving workshop will be led by Gallery of Photography curators, who will guide you through the fundamentals of preserving your family album.
It goes from caring for your photographs, negatives, and slides, safe storage and display options; digitising & archiving your collection, to options available for restoring & repairing damaged photographs.
The workshop will also discuss the value of preserving our rich photographic heritage using images from the famous Derry photographer James Glass as an example of the importance of this work.
The discussion will also look at the ongoing Photo Album of Ireland project organised in partnership with Donegal County Museum and Gallery of Photography which is researching the diverse cross border history of Ireland through the family album.
