Donegal GAA chiefs have announced that Rory Gallagher has been given a three-year contract extension.
Gallagher has led Donegal to Ulster SFC finals, but lost both to Monaghan and Tyrone respectively, while they also exited the All-Ireland series at the quarter-final juncture.
However, club officials voted overwhelmingly in favour of the contract proposal, and believe he is the man to lead Donegal forward over the next three years.
Michael Murphy and Ryan McHugh have publicly supported Gallagher in recent weeks and said it was imperative he was reappointed.
Former player Eamon McGee who retired after the loss to Dublin, also supported calls for Gallagher to be given an extended contract.
