The Finn Harps U19s will face an away fixture in the quarter-finals of the FAI National League competition after losing 2-0 to Dundalk in Killygordon this afternoon.
Joe Boyle’s side went into the final Northern Section group match in fourth place but hoping to leapfrog Dundalk into the top two in order to secure a home tie in the knockout stages of the tournament.
Harps did have chances but it was the visitors who got the goals including one from Michael O’Connor who is a member of Stephen Kenny’s senior squad who had that great 1-1 result in Holland on Wednesday night.
It was O’Connor’s goal that separated the two sides at the break with the visitors doubling their advantage in the second half.
Joe Boyle and his backroom now await the draw for the quarter-finals of the competition.
