FEATURES: A Car boot sale has been organised to raise vital funds for the Paul Holian Recovery Fund.
The fundraising event will take place this Saturday from 9am – 12am at Letterkenny Community Centre.
Paul was seriously injured in a devastating accident on July 9th which turned not only his life but his family’s life upside down.
Due to this, his extended family and friends have established the Paul Holian Recovery Fund to help him, his partner Nicola and their two children on this challenging long and tiring journey.
They’ve organised a car boot sale in order to raise much needed funds for the Paul Holian Recovery Fund and everyone is invited and welcome to attend.
At 39 years of age, Ballyare man Paul Holian should, had fate not cruelly intervened, been continuing in his work as a block layer of solid reputation. He should be, literally, indulging in that hobby horse of his – the equine world of which he has always been so passionate.
But a devastating accident on July 9th last has removed him from work and leisure activities for the foreseeable future as the long road to recovery stretches ahead and his immediate family count the days and the cost.
Paul was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital following the accident before being transferred to the Mater Hospital in Dublin. He is currently back in Letterkenny waiting for the call that will bring him to the Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoghaire.
The journey to rehabilitation will be a lengthy one and consequently the support of his family and friends and the local community is key.
Among the fund-raising efforts being organised is a ticket draw – the top prize for which is a week for two trip to Dubai including flights and hotel.
Tickets cost ten euro each and are available from Gary Holian 086 2158420 at the Dry Arch Complex in Letterkenny, from Pat Hegerty at Ballyare (086-8904850) and from Carr’s of The Diamond.
The draw will take place on Friday night, October 21st, at a special function in the Clanree Hotel where music will be by the Ryan Turner Band along with a number of local artists all getting together in support of the charity.
Other events lined up include a tractor run on September 18th a bicycle run (date to be confirmed), and a charity night in Carr’s of The Diamond on September 30th.
Proceeds from the Northwest Truck Fest in Letterkenny will be divided between the Paul Holian Recovery Fund and the M.S. Donegal branch.
Your support will be gratefully received and appreciated by Paul and his family who are facing up to that lengthy journey and require the community to help them through it.
