Camoige: Congratulations to Four Masters girls Ciara Gillespie, Roisin Feeney and Lily Doherty who competed in the U14 All Ireland Camogie Finals on Saturday in Dublin playing Antrim, Kilkenny and Kildare and on Sunday took part in the U14s County Parade during the All Ireland Camogie Finals where they were joined by honorary flag bearer Niall Feeney!! They were also part of the Donegal team who won the U14 Ulster Shield last weekend.
Another wonderful performance from Four Masters U13 girls on Saturday. Although we lost to a very strong Naomh Chonaill team our young ladies can be very proud of their efforts on the day. We had to travel to Glenties with only 15 available players, and we only lost the game in the last 10 minutes due to tired legs & no substitutes. We started the match very well with some great scores from young Emma Sweeney, Ciara Cox, Shauna Doherty and a lovely goal from Aoife Cox. We went into the half time break with a one point lead but could have been further ahead. Playing against a strong breeze in the second half, our defenders had to withstand a lot of pressure and held out well until the last few minutes of the game. Again Sofia Miziri pulled off some great saves in goal. Aine Ward, Ellen Canavan and Onagh Mchugh burst out of defence regularly to relieve pressure on our backs. A very spirited performance & unlucky not to get a win. Next up we are away to Convoy on Saturday week.
The under 16 Hurling squad continued their winning ways on Thursday evening with a well deserved win over are our near neighbours,Ballyshannon. A strong defensive performance coupled with impressive forward play saw our lads chalking up an impressive victory of 4 – 14 to 1 – 2. Well done lads.
The u12 hurlers concluded their season with valour against Setanta in Tir Chonaill park. A total of 22 hurlers, boys and girls, togged out for their final fixture. Both teams exchanged goals and points in the early minutes as Setanta looked threatening. Four Masters eventually got to grips with the visitors and soon controlled the game with some well taken goals and points and went in with a well deserved lead at half time. The resumption saw some great hurling from both sides with both teams giving it their all. Overall an enjoyable league concluded with a great ending for all involved. Well done to all the boys and girls and management.
