Harps fall to sixth defeat on the bounce away to Dundalk

Finn Harps have now lost six games on the bounce, as they suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Dundalk at Oriel Park.

Goals from Patrick McEleney and Daryl Horgan ensured Stephen Kenny’s side got all three points as they continue their quest for a third title in-a-row.

Dundalk are in Europa League action in Holland on Thursday night when they face AZ Alkmaar, but they fielded a strong starting XI and completely dominated this contest.

When McEleney scored after six minutes, Harps fans would’ve feared the worst, when the sides last met at Finn Park in May, Ollie Horgan’s side shipped seven goals.

However, Harps put in an industrious display and made Dundalk work extremely hard all evening, and they struggled to break Harps down.

At 1-0, Harps always had a chance, but Horgan, Daryl that is, not Ollie dashed any hopes of sneaking a point, when he rifled past Ciaran Gallagher.

There were plenty of positives to take from the game, but it’s another game where Harps have failed to score and Friday’s clash with Longford Town in now a MUST win.

Final score: Dundalk 2 Finn Harps 0.
