Raphoe Family Resource Centre:
Afterschool Programme
We would like to welcome back all our young people to the various out of school programmes following the long summer break. Registration is still open if you couldn’t make it to the registration day on Tuesday 6th September. The afterschool programme includes: Tuesday: 3-4.30pm: Homework for 3rd & 4th Classes; 5.15-6.15pm: Young Boys Group; Wednesday: 2-3pm: Activity Club for Junior & Senior Infants; 3-4pm: Homework Club for 1st & 2nd Classes; 4-5pm: Homework Support for 1st Year Secondary School; 5.15-6.15pm: Young Girls Group; 7-9pm: Youth Café Secondary School; Thursday: 2-3pm: Activity Club for Junior & Senior Infants; 3-4pm: Activity Club for 1st & 2nd Classes. It is hoped in the next few weeks to introduce further programmes so please look out for more information on those.
The Learning Support Groups with Lisa and Louise have also started back on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and for more information on these please contact Melanie on 074-9145796/087-3641503.
Farewell to Sinead
The Family Resource Centre would like to take this opportunity to say a fond farewell to Sinead McDaid who recently completed one year with us as Youth Support Worker through the Tús Programme. Sinead made a huge contribution to enhancing the personal, social and educational development of the young people attending our programmes and activities during her time with us. Sinead is soon to have a baby and all of us in the Family Resource Centre wish her well.
Women’s Group
The Women’s Group meets on a fortnightly basis and it take place on Mondays from 8pm here in the Family Resource Centre. The Women’s Group will start back on Monday 19th September 2016. The group has been together for many years. We chat; we help each other out, make crafts, have cooking demonstrations, plan activities for International Women’s Day and have many social outings throughout the year. If you would like to be a part of this group, please don’t hesitate to come along. We are really interested in your ideas and the first meeting is the perfect evening to join the group. Something Special Group
The Something Special Support Group have had a fantastic Summer, enjoying family days out, thank you to everyone who has supported the group throughout the year in their fundraising efforts to make all these outings possible. The group’s next meeting is taking place on Tuesday 13th September. The group meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 8pm. If you are a parent/guardian of a child with delayed communication or learning skills or Autism Spectrum Disorder, you will find support, advice and information by attending this support group. Raphoe Boxing Club
Everything is now back in full swing after the summer break and Gary McCullagh and his crew are on hand every Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights from 7pm to 9pm when all new and former boxers are very welcome to attend.
Good news for Gary McCullagh’s Junior boxers. They will commence training for the new season on Monday 19th September at 6pm. All new boxers welcome.
The Donegal Novice Championships will take place on Sunday 9th October in Letterkenny and the Raphoe Club will have five boxers for these championships. Club boxers Dennis Lafferty and Orin McDermott along with coach, Gerard Keavney and Secretary, Peter O’Donnell will travel to Philadelphia, USA from 2nd to 8th November for a major tournament in Essington and everyone at the Raphoe boxing Club extend best wishes for every success to all four club members.
Raphoe Friday Club
The Friday Club meets every Friday morning in the Volt House Hall from 10.30am-12.30. We would like more in our community to come along and be a part of the Group. There will be events organised over the summer so come along and join in the craic! Refreshments are also provided. Transport is available on Friday mornings and if you require this please phone 0749145462 and arrange.

Raphoe Kurling Club:
Raphoe Kurling Club started back on Monday 5th September 2016 at 6.45pm and will continue every Monday night at the same time in the Presbyterian Church Hall, Raphoe. New members are welcome.

Carers Programme
Are you caring for someone? The HSE is offering a free information programme in Letterkenny for individuals who are looking after someone at home commencing September 2016. Book your place now. Sessions included in the Programme are: continence, pressure care / positioning, patient moving and handling, Diabetes, Understanding Dementia, Cardiac First Aid Response training, Stress Management, Safeguarding vulnerable adults, Nutrition, practical issues in bereavement.
