This week Patrick Gildea brings us through the latest big hair trend; Ecaille!
One of the most talked about hair colouring trends this year is Ecaille – we all want to try something new and what better way than with a beautiful personalised colour change! We are so happy that this trend will be around for a long time because it is so personalised to each individual and we absolutely love freehand colour!
Patrick asked Kiera, one of our Master Colour Experts, to share some information with us about the beautiful ‘Ecaille’ hair colouring technique and this is what she said!
“Like Ombre and Balayage, Ecaille (which is French for tortoiseshell) is a Freehand colouring technique that uses different colours to create a beautiful blended effect on the hair”.
Keira says that although the three are all free hand colouring techniques they are all very different for example;
Ombre has a really distinct root area that is darker throughout the lengths of the hair and graduates to a beautiful lighter shade on the tips.
Balayage appears as a sun kissed effect throughout the hair whereas the Ecaille colour placement accentuates the hair movement by adding both highlights and shadows.
The beauty of ‘Ecaille’ is that it is created bespoke for every client because the stylist looks at the natural movement of the hair and how to accentuate it with the placement of colour”.
Kiera says “the colour is inspired by molten metallic- imagine that they have been heated to create beautiful greys, coppers and golds which all flow together in a really authentic way and is great for anyone who wants their hair to be low maintenance as it only requires a touch up every few months” So for all your low maintenance gals this is the perfect colouring technique for you!
Chrissy Tiegan, Gisele and Sarah Jessica Parker are perfect examples of Ecaille colour with varying tones.
