Our young B team put in a brave performance against Downings at home last Friday evening but Downings just proved much too strong. Amongst those who played well were Leah McFadden, Sophie Curran and Mary Crumlish
What a fantastic turnout there was for week 1 of our U6 FUNDAMENTALS Course on Saturday last. 40 boys and girls, many of them making their first ever appearance at The Burn Road was a magnificent reward for the excellent recruitment campaign which was rolled out last week with Darren and Aidan using some of County men’s and ladies players to visit the local schools, well done all. Week 2 this Saturday again 10.30-11.30, hopefully the weather will again be kind to us and hopefully we will see all the boys and girls back again. All children born in 2010 and 2011 that are at National School are invited to attend. There is no charge, bring your child along and join in the fun.
Our U8 coaches Liam Cunningham, Jim Bonner, Conall Mc Gettigan and Paul Gallagher were busy on Saturday morning with Downings and Milford U8s all at The Burn Road for a superb morning’s football. Huge thanks to these coaches and to all who helped with providing refreshments and anyone who helped in any way. We had 4 teams take to the field and all the boys and girls continue to show great progress in their skills and their play, well done to all involved. Coaching will resume as normal on Saturday 10.30-11.30 and as with the U6s, new players are always welcome.
This Saturday our U9 boys, that’s any boys born in 2007 will take part in a tournament in Four Masters GAA Club in Donegal Town. Details will be given out at tomorrow (Wednesdays) coaching. Saturday morning coaching for 2006 boys and 2006 and 2007 boys and girls will take place as usual 10.30-11.30 at The Burn Road.
Our U13 boys recorded a victory on Wednesday last over Mc Cumhaills A in Mc Cumhaill Park. Next up it’s a home game against Red Hugh on Monday evening 6.30pm throw in (Sharp). Coaching tomorrow Wednesday 6-7.15pm.
Our U16 boys League campaign came to an end on Sunday last when they were defeated by an all conquering St Nauls outfit in Glenties. Our boys will look back on missed scoring chances in the first half which ultimately left them with too much to do again a very powerful and impressive Mountcharles team. Good luck to St Nauls in the County Final. Its Championship now for the U16s and its gets underway this Sunday 5.30pm throw in at The Burn Road with Cloughaneely the visitors.
Good luck to Pj, Paddy and James and the boys in this competition.
Cloughaneely Minors proved too strong for our boys on Monday night and so ends our interest in the NRB Minor Div 2 Championship. Despite taking an early lead the Falcarragh boys soon established their dominance and despite a spirited second half the hosst were deserving winners. Thanks to the boys for their efforts since February when training commenced and thanks to coaches Paul Doherty, Benny Gallagher and Kevin Mc Gettigan for their commitment to this team.
