Ireland’s best and worst accents revealed…

In a poll conducted by The Sliced Pan, thousands voted for their favourite, and least favourite accents in Ireland.

It may come as no surprise that Donegal ranked #1 for the best accent considering our amazing track record of awards for our lilty speech.

Donegal won by a landslide, dominating over 4,000 votes. Our accents were described as “featuring a complete inability to speak without sounding like said person is up to some sort of divilment” by the popular culture website.

People have even made videos compiling clips of Donegal people speaking for their listening pleasure, including Jim McGuinness, Enya, and Pearse Doherty! This particular video has over 130,000 views!

The second favourite accent was Galway, with 2,900 votes.

The third best was Cork with 2,400 votes.

The crown for the worst accent goes to D4s, who are described as having “an accent so far up its own arse it actually doesn’t know any other Irish accents exist”. Next was Offaly, which was called “rough”, and the third least favourite was Louth.
