Intermediate Championship Group A
Gaeil Fhánada v Baile na nGallóglach
Despite defeat at the weekend for our Senior men’s team, it was very encouraging to see a huge crowd out to watch what was an entertaining battle with our neighbours Milford. Fanad perhaps shaded the possession stats and in the end their 15 wides came back to haunt them.
With 3 massive League games left we would encourage the people of Fanad to get behind the lads in their quest for safety in Division 3. It’s been a rocky year disrupted by injuries and players heading away but the lads showed that, with a settled team, they are a match for most sides. A big thanks to everyone who helped out on the day to ensure the safety of our patrons.
Gaeil Fhánada v CLG Carndomhnaigh
This Saturday eve 03 rd September at 5.00p.m and 6.30p.m. at home in Tria Locha, our Reserves and Seniors take on Carndonagh. Referees James McGinley (Reserves) and Michael Mulhern (Seniors).
History made as our Ladies lifted their first ever Junior B Championship trophy Gaeil Fhánada 1:12 Gleann Súilí 2:07
Our ladies team lifted their first championship trophy after victory in the Junior B decider against Glenswilly today. The game was played in wonderful conditions in Milford and went right to the wire with only two points separating the sides at the end. The game was tight from the outset with both teams matching each other throughout the first half.
This is the team’s second trophy of the year having lifted Corn Soisir na Gaeltachta in Glenties in May. They have two further league competitions to complete and are in with a chance of claiming more silverware in those competitions. Well done to John and Hughie, John Pháidí and the entire panel on this victory and hopefully will become the catalyst for more success in years to come. Thanks to the management team, panel of players and supporters in her speech at the end and we wish Aisling Howe a speedy recovery from a knee injury which ended her participation in the game late in the first half. Huge congratulations to everybody involved.
