ENTERTAINMENT: One of Ireland’s most popular soaps, Ros na Rún returns to our screens for its 21st season, and a large representation of actors and actresses are set to return to our screens.
Donegal’s Daly Family, consists of Ranafast, Gaoth Dobhair and Gort an Choirce actors Niall Mac Eamharcaigh (John Joe), Brídín Ní Mhaoldomhnaigh (Katy), Dee (Máirín De Buitléir) and Noreen (Máire Uí Rabhartaigh).
The Daly family (pictured above) are reunited back on the set of Ros na Rún for their first day of filming of the new 21st season of Ros na Rún.
As Ros na Rún fans eagerly await the return of the 21st Season this September, TG4 and Ireland’s only Irish language soap opera hosted an unforgettable celebration to mark the milestone 21st birthday BBQ Street Party and new season launch of the show.
Attendees were given an exclusive look behind the scenes of Ireland’s longest running soap at this special bash, where they met with the cast and crew on set in Ros na Rún’s landmark pub Tigh Thaidhg and its iconic publican behind the bar, the machiavellian Tadhg Ó Direáin, played by Macdara Ó Fatharta.
The main street of Ros na Rún was buzzing as cast, crew and attendees toasted to the soap’s coming of age, and blew out the candles on the large scale birthday cake alongside the eight original members who have been with Ros Rún since the very first season.
Over the past 21 seasons TG4’s Ros na Rún has become synonymous with pushing the boundaries of Irish television. Ros na Rún is Ireland’s most concentrated arts programme outside of Dublin and for over two decades has enthralled viewers with dramatic storylines of murder, rape, kidnapping, affairs and a minefield of lust, love and lies which have included screening the first ever gay kiss on Irish television, and cameos from legendary actors Mick Lally and Stephen Fry.
As Ireland’s favourite Irish language soap opera turns 21 and comes of age, the key to the door will unlock many secrets, shocking revelations and scandalous scenes, guaranteed to keep viewers enthralled every week!
Series 21 of Ros na Rún is jam packed with surprises which are sure to shock viewers, who will once again be glued to their screens from the explosive first episode on Tuesday the 6th September. Life and death feature as central themes that surround Ros na Rún’s coming of age, and a poignant death will come as a huge blow to fans, as the cast prepare to bid a heartfelt farewell to one of its long-time residents.
A shock pregnancy is in store for one character, which may result in turmoil, as finding out the identity of the father could come as a real shock!
With tales of love, deceit, deception, break-ups & make-ups, affairs & love triangles, soap viewers are in for many surprises as the new season of Ros na Rún unfolds… Tune into Ros na Rún on TG4 every Tuesday and Thursday night at 8.30pm with an omnibus edition on Sunday nights at 10.30pm. The first episode of season 21 of Ros na Rún will air on Tuesday the 6th of September at 8.30pm!
