GAA: A brace of goals from Aaron Kelly helped Mac Cumhaills to a big derby win over Glenfin in Ballybofey.
It what was expected to be a tight affair, in what was a local derby, in truth it was anything but.
Mac Cumhaills cruised to a 12-point win, and were full value for their victory, which gives them a fighting chance of making the last eight of the Donegal SFC.
Glenfin came into this clash on the back of a decent run of league form, but they simply didn’t perform, and were no match for their hungrier counterparts.
Two goals from Aaron Kelly, a hugely talented soccer player who plays for Cappry Rovers in the Donegal League – were the crucial scores in the game.
He showed his predatory instincts extend to the GAA playing fields at Mac Cumhaill Park this evening with two expertly dispatched efforts.
His teammate at Cappry, Darren O’Leary also got in on the act, as Mac Cumhaills eased to victory.
Glenfin were out of sorts from the off, and their cause wasn’t helped when Donegal star Frank McGlynn was dismissed early in the second-half.
Gerard Ward and Conor McBride kicked all the scores for Glenfin, and never stopped fighting, but in truth Glenfin were comfortably dismantled by a Mac Cumhaills said that played with real intent and fluidity.
Next up for Mac Cumhaills is a clash with Naomh Muire next weekend, while Glenfin face Malin.
Final Score: Mac Cumhaills 3-16 Glenfin 1-10
