BREAKING NEWS: Emergency personnel are currently attending the scene of a road traffic accident that occurred shortly before 5pm this evening.

The accident occurred on the main Letterkenny to Derry road, and it is believed the collision happened outside the picnic area in Manorcunningham.

Fire emergency services, ambulance personnel and Gardaí are all at the scene.

It is not yet known if anyone has been seriously hurt or injured in the collision.

There is severe traffic congestion as a result of the accident, and motorists are being asked to avoid the area if at all possible.

It is the latest in a long line of accidents on the main Letterkenny to Derry road.

We’ll have more on this breaking news story as it emerges.
