Michael Murphy is set to undergo a scan today to reveal the extent of the knee injury he sustained in an All-County League clash at the weekend.
Murphy was due to travel to the Sports Surgery Clinic, in Santry, Dublin this morning to meet with specialists in an order to identify what type of injury he has suffered.
It is hoped he hasn’t sustained the dreaded ACL injury, which commonly keeps players depending on the severity of the injury out for anything between 9-12 months.
Murphy was in action for Glenswilly against St Michael’s on Saturday evening, but was forced off midway through the half after sustaining a knee injury.
The Donegal captain appeared to be in considerable pain and had to be helped off the pitch.
Declan Bonner, who is part of the St Michael’s management team, confirmed he spoke to Murphy the day after the incident.
Bonner said that Murphy had a badly swollen knee and was waiting for the swelling to go down before he could get a scan on it.
