On Thursday evening our young U-12 hurlers made the journey to The Scarvey to take on Buncrana in the U-12 league.
Both teams put on a great show of hurling with the Gaels claiming a deserved victory. Well done all.
The U-8 footballers travelled to ‘The Glen’ this week to play against Glenswilly. Both clubs fielded two teams with a good mix of boys and girls participating. Although the night was wet these young footballers put on a very high standard of football for the watching crowd. The travelling Gaels were very grateful for the hospitality received and thank the underage management team at Glenswilly. They are looking forward to a return fixture at Pairc na nGael.

During the week, five Letterkeny Gaels U-12 hurlers, Matthew Winters, Cian Page, Caolan Boyle, Conal Boyle and Finn Doherty went to Croke Park to play in a blitz with thirty other players from hurling clubs across Donegal. Among these were rival clubs St.Eunan’s, Buncrana, Burt, Setanta, Ballyshannon Gweedore Mac Cumhaills and Carndonagh.
The teams were mixed up and the lads played three competitive games each. After the experience of playing on the hallowed turf the lads were taken on a behind the scenes tour of the museum, player dressing rooms and player celebration room. On the road home the lads took a detour for dinner in Castleblaney.
This was a great experience and team bonding session which was thoroughly enjoyed by all the lads. Club hurling rivalry was put to the side for the day and good friendships were made. Outdoor Hurling training for U-6, U-8 & U-10 continues every Thursday evening from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Hurls and helmets provided. New players welcome.
U-12 to U-18 hurling continues every Tuesday evening from 6.30pm – 7.30pm.
Congratulations to Senior ladies player Leona Russell who played for the Irish Banshees in London at the weekend in the AFL European Championships.
