Donegal captain Michael Murphy has sustained what may be a serious knee injury in an All-County League clash for Glenswilly this evening.
Glenswilly were defeated by St Michael’s, and now look in real danger of being relegated from Division One.
However, it was the injury sustained by Michael Murphy that was the main talking point as Glenswilly supporters made their way towards the exit gate.
Glenswilly face Dungloe in the Donegal SFC next week, but it looks like Murphy will almost certainly play no part in it.
He went down in the 52nd minute holding his knee, and had to be helped off the pitch.
He seemed to be in a lot of distress, and he is expected to undergo a scan in an effort to determine the extent of the damage caused.
Glenswilly and Donegal fans will be praying he hasn’t sustained a serious knee injury.
Many fans were calling for Murphy to be given an extended break, as his movement looked restricted through Donegal’s championship campaign, with many speculating he was carrying an injury.
We wish Michael a speedy recovery from his injury.
