Former Finn Harps midfielder Raymond Foy has issued what seems to a parting shot at the club’s management with a statement on his departure from the club on his Facebook page.
The club released a statement via their own website informing supporters that last season’s Player of the Year Raymond Foy has left Finn Park by mutual consent.
However, Foy issued a scathing statement via his own personal Facebook page.
The Castlfin native, thanked the fans for their incredible support, and also praised the players for all the efforts they’ve put in during his time at the club.
But he also said going from being Player of the Year, in one of the club’s greatest seasons, to then playing a bit-part role was ‘hard to swallow’.
He also says he would’ve loved to help keep the club in the division, but he is unable to do that and has now left the club.
Foy posted this statement on his Facebook timeline, “Unfortunately I have decided to call it a day with Finn Harps for now. To go from player of the year in one of the greatest seasons in the clubs history to a limited role within the set up this year was hard to swallow.
“I feel that in order to begin enjoying my football again I need a change as any player will know the ultimate reward after a hard week on the training pitch and in the gym is pulling on the shirt at the weekend and playing a game of football. Ultimately we can begin to forget what football is really about enjoyment and entertaining the people who pay there money to come through the gate to watch you. For me it is the ultimate compliment when a working man, women or young kid put a night aside which is dedicated to coming and watching you play football at their own expense.
“I want to thank all the players there is a group there in which a majority are local lads and they togetherness within the group is fantastic. The harps fans are fantastic in their support both home and away and I would also like to thanks them.
“I would have loved to help the team, club and the fans on the pitch to help the club stay in the division were they belong unfortunately I was unable to do that. Every morning is a new dawn and I will move on to another chapter in my life. #UTH
