The summer of 2016 as a whole hasn’t delivered amazing weather by any stretch of the imagination, but there have been a few scorchers and Tuesday, August 16 was one of them.
Temperatures exceeded 20 degrees all over the country and according to Barra Best of the BBC, Finner in Donegal was one of the hottest places recorded in Ireland yesterday along with Claremorris & Shannon.
Sadly the five-day forecast isn’t much better with localised downpours forecast for Western counties and lots of rain right across the country.
There’s a glimmer of hope for Thursday when a new front from the south arrives, bringing with it mostly dry weather.
Friday sees a return to cloud, rain and breezy weather, with heavy rainfall
and the risk of spot flooding.
At the weekend, bands of heavy thundery showers will persist with brisk westerly winds but there will be dry spells with some sun and highs of 20C.
