USL: Letterkenny manager Eamon McConigley has been busy this summer, and he has acquired the signatures of three new players.
McConigley led Rovers to their first ever FAI Intermediate Cup final at the Aviva Stadium last season, and also guided the club to their first ever win in the FAI Senior Cup.
He isn’t resting on his laurels though, and has added Ryan Gildea, Darragh Black and Conor Tourish to his squad ahead of the upcoming USL season which gets underway in a fortnight.
Gildea, played for Rathmullan Celtic last season, but the former Drumkeen United defender did play for Letterkenny Rovers in the USL interim season in 2015.
Gildea is a quality player and his versatility will be a big boost for McConigley ahead of the new campaign.
Former Finn Harps Darragh Black has also joined from UCD.
Black, is a student at UCD, but found first-team opportunities hard to come by, and as a result has signed for the Leckview Park outfit.
Classy defender Conor Tourish has signed from Derry City, the former Rovers underage player has returned to his parental club after three years at The Brandywell.
Chris Flanagan is also expected to return to Letterkenny Rovers, after spells with Finn Harps, Derry City and Sligo Rovers.
Fanad United have also strengthened their squad with the notable signature of Matthew Crossan from Finn Harps.
Crossan, helped Harps to promotion last season, but he didn’t feature much in the Premier Division and left Finn Park in July,
Arthur Lynch secured his services, and that of Seami ‘Nanny’ Friel, Kieran Gorman, Gary Gorman and Daire McDaid.
A launch night for the USL season is set to take place on Wednesday night with representatives from all clubs attending the event which will take place at Dry Arch Park.
