FOOTBALL: Seamus Coleman is expected to be side-lined for the next 6-8 weeks, which will make him a major doubt for Ireland’s World Cup qualifier in September.
Coleman missed Everton’s 1-1 draw with Spurs on Saturday at Goodison Park, and is likely to spend the next two months out of action.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman confirmed Coleman will be out of action for ‘several weeks’.
Coleman arrived at Goodison Park on Saturday with a protective boot on his ankle.
The news will be a huge blow for Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Serbia on September 5th.
Coleman is likely to be handed the captain’s armband, as it’s expected John O’Shea will retire from International football.
He captained Ireland in that famous 1-0 win over Italy, and also in their last 16 knockout defeat to France.
