Ballyliffin Golf Club Results
The main event in Ballyliffin this weekend was the Scratch Cup. The winner was +2 handicapper Eddie Mc Cormack with a level par 2 round total of 144. 1 stroke behind him in 2nd place was Richard Knightly[0]. Third was Gary Ward[0] on 146.
The Junior Scratch Cup was won by Ballyliffin’s Seamus Doherty[c][5] with a 160 total, he edged out Mr Entertainment Joe Coyle[6] on the break of a tie. Making it a family double Gearoid Doherty[c][7] was 3rd on 162.
Not to be outdone Paul Doherty[c][3] took the Nett Prize with a 143 score.I don’t know what Annette is feeding them up in Cloontagh but it’s working.
The Sunday confined on the Old Course was won by Seamus Mc Laughlin[m][15] with 42pts. Another new name to the prizewinners was 2nd Johnny Mc Dermott[25] with 41pts this was on a 3 way break of a tie. Shaun O Donnell was 3rd with 41 even though he has to play Colm, Jackie and Patsy. After almost giving the game up it was great to see Liam Grant[25] shooting 41pts and taking 4th.Welcome back Liam. Jason Mc Intyre[4] took the Gross with 36 gross pts
The Saturday Confined was won by all round sportsman James Carr[17] with a 68nett. Henry Mc Gee[13] took time off from getting other people back on their feet to finish 2nd with a 69nett. Michael Deeny[19] made the trip from Letterkenny worthwhile and finished 3rd also with a 69nett. Paul Glover[15] took 3rd with a 70nett. Denis Mc Elhinney took the Gross with a 70.
The Glashedy Course is the setting this week for the cream of Irish amateur golfers trying to win the Irish Amateur Close Championship. It’s good to see Major golf tournaments coming to this part of our wee country over the last few weeks for a change. Come out and watch and support them. Happy Golfing.
