U10 Sean Masterson Competition:
This Saturday the 20th all U10 roads lead to the Scarvey in Buncrana where the U10 Sean Masterson competition will take place. There will be 16 clubs from across Ulster (Monaghan, Armagh, Tyrone, Derry and Donegal), bringing 2 teams each all competing for the Sean Masterson Cup (over 300+ children). A tribute to one of the clubs founding members who is delighted to have his name associated with the development of the future generations of CLG Bun Cranncha.
The excitement is building in the club towards this big day and we would appreciate all club members to come down and offer some help in making the day a success for all these children.

Senior Hurling.
Buncrana suffered a defeat away to Setanta in the 4th round of the senior hurling championshipnon Saturday.
Missing several players due to injury holidays etc it was always going to be an up hill task.
Seasoned senior outfit Setanta where on fire from the start and ran into a convinving lead early on , and lead 3:11 to 0:6 at half time.
But the Buncrana team where better in the second half and matched the Killygordon outfit score for score second half.
Final score 4:19;to 0:14
We are on a development curve , and our boys showed unbelievable commitment against a seasoned senior oufit and will learn from this defeat, gracious winning management came to the dressing room to congratulate our effort and acknowledge where we are and where we will be in the near future.
We have no rest we have Burt at home on Wednesday, and we will be up against it having suffered a serious defeat in Burt last year, our boys will be looking to close the gap, All support welcome on Wednesday throw in 7pm
U16 Hurling Report.
Buncrana u16 hurlers continued their great start to the league with a top of the table win over rivals St Eunans, winning on a score line of 2:6 to 0:6 already missing 3 starting players from injury Buncrana went into the game as underdogs, but started the brighter and showed an improvement on stick work from recent games.
Daragh Doherty(s) puck outs where accurate and the launch pad for many attacks. Ulster player John Vaughan was exemplary in Full back, but his 2 corner backs Finn mc Laughlin and David Doherty both u14 players got the better of their opponents.
Niall O Doherty switched to half back and reveled in the position and gave his best display all year and scoring 5 points from frees and play, Niall was ably support by fellow Ulster player Oisin (roe) Doherty. Jason mc Laughlin and his marker had a right battle all night and covered every blade of grass in the Scarvey.
Midfield Due of Mathew Wilson and Evan Mc Callion worked relentlessly and were well supported by Half forward line of Tom Mc Laughlin, Gabhan Kelly(1:1) and Ryan Hegarty,Gabhan chipped in with a late goal to seal the win.. young corner forwards Oisin Kelly and Gavin Deehan(1:0) were impressive and gave performance’s above their age, Conor Redmond played full forward and with each game is
showing a greater awareness and understanding of his roll and tried hard throughout. Rauri(roe) Doherty and Caolan ONeill took their chance to impress when introduced as Subs.
Buncrana will know that there won’t be much between both these sides later in the year and all will need to improve again if a league title is to be secured, Training this Wed at 5:45 due to Senior Hurling League match against Burt throwing in at 7pm.
Missing several first team players due to injuries, holidays etc Cathal got a call to grab boots, both his sons Daniel and Patrick were on the field and where joined 15 mins into second half by Cathal.
Cathal is a keen cyclist and ultra event competitor, but when his club side came calling he wasn’t found wanting.
It’s a massive achievement to represent your club, an even greater achievement to play for your county, these boys have done both with distinction, but on Saturday they will represent their province , when they travel to play in the annual Galway V Ulster u16 hurling challenge match.
Good luck from all in the club.
U10 Footballers.
U10 team who played in Wolfe Tones Bellaghy Tournament on Saturday. Reaching the shield semi-final but unfortunately getting beat by shield winners Donaghmore.
Buncrana U10’s didn’t hold back over the last bank holiday weekend in Malin. With great football skills and determination while playing Steelstown, Carndonagh and Termon on route to the semi final where they met a tough and physical Glenfinn with a few points to spare stepped them up to the final to play a fast and competitive Mac Chumhaills seeing Buncrana
Cup A winners.
The second team had a great days football also with victories over Termon, Carndonagh and Malin. Helping them progress into a Final with a physical and competitive Doire Trasna but unfortunately it just wasn’t to be our day being defeated by a point in the end. Well Done Management, players & supporters.
U8 Footballers.
First U8 tournaments outing for this group and their management team of Eunan O Doherty and Stephen McGonigle took them to the prestigious Bellaghy tournament. A slow start was followed by some excellent performances in the shield quarter finals with a win over Swatragh where Danny Doherty was to the fore. The semi final against Ballymaguigan was decided by a single point which put the lads into the final against Ballinascreen whom had beaten us by two in an earlier group game.
The boys started in determined fashion and went in to an early two point lead despite playing against the elements. A goal from the Screen corner forward kick started their game but credit to our lads and we responded with a quality goal of our own. At the turn we led by three points and scored first from the throw in. Point for point for the rest of the game and a great save from Ryan Doherty ensured a wonderful victory for a great group of young players. Training again on Tuesday at 6.30 on field sharp and all 2008s are welcome including new players.
