It’s entertainment all the way when the Trentagh Fun Day – make that three fun days – takes place over the weekend of August 12th to 14th.
Now in its seventh year, the event is not just devoted to fun and games and music but has, to date, helped raise over 30,000 euro for local schools and groups.
Proceeds from the forthcoming event will be directed to Rathdonnell National School, Trentagh National School, and the Churchill Community Playgroup – worthy causes all.
The 30,700 euro raised to date has all found its way into the local community – a community that has warmly embraced the event from its inception.
The Trentagh Fun Day opens on Friday evening, 12th, with a match pairing the married men and the single men. Kick-off at Gartan pitch is 6.p.m. – see if you can spot the difference between the sides!
It will be followed by the Damian Crossan Single Darts competition at 9.p.m. and then it’s back outdoors for the first event on Saturday – a 5k fun run or walk commencing at 6.p.m.
At 8.p.m., a car treasure hunt should involve a lot of head scratching while there will be a barbecue to whet the hunger and music by M&D Karaoke to test the voices.
A whole host of activities have been lined out for Sunday including the Danny Boyle Memorial Clay Pigeon Shoot, a tractor run, a bike race, and the married men once again coming into opposition against their single counterparts, this time in the tug of war.
The Cube (Trentagh Style) should provide plenty of more laughs while there will also be a pet show and animal display, tombola table, digger handling and face painting and bouncy castle. Something, as they say, for everyone, young and old.
Eddie Gallagher will take to the stage from 3.p.m. to 5.p.m. to provide his own brand of top class music while D.J. Tubsy will supervise the subsequent jiving competition from 6.p.m. through to 8.p.m.
There will also be music by Workmates in Joe Harley’s Lounge with a special draw (ticket books costing 5 euro) and loads of prizes to be won.
All in the name of fun and entertainment and all providing those much needed proceeds to the schools and the playgroup.
And you don’t even have to hail from Trentagh or Rathdonnell to go along and join in!
