All roads lead to Croke Park today, as both the Donegal Senior and Minor squads take on Cork in what promises to be a massive day of GAA for the county.
SP Barrett’s minor squad will be looking to set the tone at 2pm when they face the Munster runners up.
Barrett’s side are still on a high after landing the Ulster MFC championship a few weeks ago.
They have ambitions of landing an All-Ireland title, but Cork will be a tough test for Donegal, but they should have too much firepower as they look to book their place in the last four.
Then at 4pm, Donegal and Cork face off for the first time in the All-Ireland championship since 2012.
On that glorious August afternoon, Donegal delivered a sensational performance to book their place in the All-Ireland final, and we know how that ended up!
Today, the stakes are still high, a place in the last eight is up for grabs, and Donegal know a win will set up a tantalising clash with Dublin.
Rory Gallagher’s side were unlucky in the Ulster Final, they led going into injury-time, but they were denied late on by a classy Tyrone side.
However, Donegal still have the quality and ability to win the All-Ireland title, and a win against Cork would quickly restore any confidence drained from the Ulster SFC final defeat.
Gallagher has named the same team he selected for the Tyrone game, although Eamon McGee was a late replacement for Martin McElhinney last time out.
A Donegal double today is very much on the cards, and both teams are tipped to edge out their Cork counterparts.
But championship football is anything but predictable, and it won’t be easy, but thousands will travel to Croke Park today to support both sides.
Let’s hope the two squads can do it, they deserve all our support.
