The three bodies of those killed in this morning’s horrific head-on collision between Letterkenny and Drumkeen have been removed from the scene.
The remains of the two men and one woman have been taken to Letterkenny University Hospital where post mortems will be carried out.
The names of the victims have not yet been released but all are understood to be living in the Letterkenny area but have connections with Ballybofey.
The back road from Rahan between Letterkenny and Drumkeen remains closed while accident investigators carry out a full overview of the scene.
It is expected to remain closed of the rest of the day.
