The Mayor of Letterkenny,Cllr James Pat McDaid, has appealed to young people to slow down and take extra care on the roads.
Cllr McDaid, the council’s youngest councillor, was speaking in the wake of today’s latest horrific road accident which claimed the lives of another three people at Drumkeen.
He told Donegal Daily “I would just appeal to young people and the public in general to take extra care on our roads. The last 24 hours have shown how unforgiving our roads can be.
“We are on the eve of the Bank Holiday Weekend and there will be a lot of traffic on the road, even more than normal.
“I am asking young people to slow down, to wear their seat belts and not to ever drink and drive.
“We have to make sure that this doesn’t happen again. Donegal has had enough heartache.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of these young people and we also think of those in hospital as a result of these two crashes,” he said.
