The community village of Annagry have pulled together and filled a container of basic necessities for a refugee camp in Greece.
On Saturday last, July 16th, Mairead sister of aid worker Roísin Harkin, took it on herself and organised a collection for a refugee camp.
Roísin and her friend Stephanie Sweeney from Ardara have been volunteering to gather the much needed items over past few weeks.
Roísin a native of Annagry was in complete shock at the lack of basic necessities kids and adults have in the refugee camp she is working in.
Hundreds descended to the community hall in Annagry on Saturday to donate much needed items such like, sun cream, nappies, shampoo for fighting lice and much much more.
Mairead posted on her Facebook expressing her thanks for all the generous donations and help received. She also thanked RAP and SIOEN for supplying boxes and tape to hold the donated items, John Lyons in Irish transport for all his guidance and advice for the shipping process.
“What a feeling seeing the container going up through Annagry.”
