MET Eireann has issued a yellow alert for Tuesday, saying temperatures can soar up into the high 20s. They have also issued a warning that severe thunder storms could hit Donegal later this evening due to the heat.
Temperatures will drop back into the teens from tomorrow onwards.
The Environmental Protection Agency has launched an appeal to keep people safe in the hot weather; advising people to wear suncream, respect the sea, make yourself aware of warning signs and never go swimming alone.
If you are planning on going to the beach, we would like to remind you to respect the sea and don’t venture out of your depth and be aware of rip currents.
