Local Senator Pádraig Mac Lochlainn has conveyed his deep regret and disappointment at news that the fire at the old Moville school building has impacted on plans for a new building for Gaelscoil Cois Feabhail has called for the process to fast-tracked by the Government.
He has now raised the matter with the Minister for Education, Richard Bruton and requested that the Minister make a statement on his Departments plans to provide capital funding to Gaelscoil Cois Feabhail, Moville, following the fire.
Senator Mac Lochlainn said: “I am so disappointed for the children, parents, teachers and board of management at Gaelscoil Cois Feabhail who had worked so hard to advance plans for their relocation to the former St Joseph’s Boy’s school building. Those responsible for this act of senseless sabotage have caused great harm to their local community.
I have today submitted a parliamentary question to the Minister for Education, Richard Bruton, requesting that he make a statement on his Departments plans to provide capital funding to Gaelscoil Cois Feabhail, Moville, Co. Donegal, following the fire.
I trust that the Minister and his officials will prioritise resources to ensure that the redesign and additional funding now required can be fast-tracked and that the desired timeframe for a new Gaelscoil Cois Feabhail can be delivered upon”.
