MEATH’S senior footballers were helped out at a local GAA club last night – ahead of their All-Ireland qualifier against Derry later today.
The Leinster side booked into the Mount Errigal Hotel in Letterkenny yesterday and sent out an SOS looking for somewhere to do a pre-match training session.
Local club St Eunan’s stepped in and Meath’s management and team were welcomed at the club.
The senior county men were given the training pitch at O’Donnell Park for the evening – the club’s U14s were playing on the main pitch in a 5-09 to 1-12 win over Gaoth Dobhair in the county northern championship semi-final.
Said Eunan’s Vincent McGlynn: “We’re all part of the GAA family and when Meath asked for help, we were happy to oblige.”
Meath are being widely tipped to end Derry’s season in Owenbeg today (2.30pm TI).
