Finn Harps have announced that Ruairi Keating has signed for the club until the end of the 2016 premier division season.
Donegal Daily reported recently that the striker was considering a move back to Ballybofey.
Harps manager Ollie Horgan has secured the strikers signature following his recent departure from Galway United, having starred for the Tribesmen for the first half of the season.
This will be the Mayo native’s 3rd spell at Finn Park having first joined on loan from Sligo Rovers in 2014 where he went on to score 6 goals in 14 league and cup appearances.
Ruairi re-joined Finn Harps on loan in February 2015, further endearing himself to the home faithful by scoring a further 5 goals in 10 league appearances before he returned to the Showgrounds for the second half of the season.
Ruairi is looking forward to getting started, “I really enjoyed my two previous spells here so it’s great to be back at Finn Harps. The squad has achieved some great results so far this season and I intend working hard to make sure Harps can be as competitive as possible for the second half of the league campaign.”
Ollie Horgan said “The league will get even more competitive from now on because every club will be fighting tooth and nail to secure highest possible position – especially those of us who are looking to secure our premier status. Ruairi did well here previously and will be another string to our bow. Injuries and suspensions are always a factor so it’s vital we have options and cover for every position.”
Ruairi is a striker and can play on the wing. He signed with a deal with Sligo Rovers in January 2014. He then joined Harps on loan until that summer. Ruairi made his league debut for Harps in a scoreless draw against Waterford United and he went on to score 6 goals in 14 league and cup appearances before the end of his loan spell.
Ruairi re-joined Sligo Rovers after his loan deal expired on July 1st and made 14 appearances for Sligo in 2014. Ruairi re-joined Harps on loan again in February 2015, with the loan lasting until the end of June. He scored five goals in ten league appearances before he then returned to Sligo scoring once in seven league appearances for Sligo. In January 2016, Ruairi signed for Galway United making 10 starts and 6 sub appearances, scoring 2 goals before returning to Harps once more.
