A young Donegal girl has had her precious hair cut for the Rapunzel Foundation who help to provide wigs for cancer patients.
Ciara O’Grady underwent the brave ‘snip’ in recent days.
The Finn Valley girl was joined by family and friends at the LK Hair Design in Letterkenny for the cut.
Ciara wanted to do something that would benefit sick children & other people, so she decided to have her hair cut.
As well as having her hair cut & donated Ciara with the help of her family also raised money as part of her haircut and donated the amazing amount of €1060 to Donegal Action for Cancer Care.
Betty Holmes of Donegal Action Against Cancer said Ciara is an inspiration to al young people.
“Ciara’s hairdresser explained to us present that it takes 20 to 25 ponytails to make one wig! So every ponytail is very precious. It made us all think that we who have hair probably take it for granted. So we in DACC are asking please if you are a young person who would like to do what Ciara did, have your hair cut for the Rapunzel Foundation & do a bit of fundraising for DACC at the same time please contact us.
“Think of the feel good factor you’d get knowing you could help someone have hair. When Ciara & her mum Nikita started to write the cheque out for us and we saw the amazing amount of €1060 we were delighted, it will help us continue our voluntary, unpaid work in doing our best for cancer patients & services in Donegal.
“Our sincere thanks to Ciara & her family for their support to us. Please phone me if you would like to have your hair cut at 0749128400,” said Betty.
