Residents in east Donegal are facing yet another crime alert – with thieves attempting to steal two family pets.

The gang struck in Cavanacaw yesterday evening; and they were driving this white estate car with Derry registration plates.

The image was caught on CCTV installed at the family home in an area which has had more than its fair share of break-ins in recent years.

The resident says the two men tried to take her two dogs from her garden.

But then men drove off at speed in the direction of St Johnston when she went out to check on the dogs after hearing one of the dogs bark.

There is now a wider crime alert across the east of the county that these thieves will strike again.

Gardaí and the PSNI have been given details of the vehicle which was used.

However they warn the thieves could attempt a similar theft in the area using different vehicle or vehicles.

The incident comes after a DD Crime Alert yesterday in east Donegal involving thieves grabbing valuables from gardens – including gas cylinders.
