Helen McNutt Manager of the Europe Direct Information Centre believes that migrant workers often find it difficult to get access to information on their rights and entitlements.
“This is a time of great movement throughout Europe with many migrants finding themselves in a strange country trying to make connections within a system completely alien to anything they knew before. This can cause great stress and our workshop will try to eliminate some of this stress by providing answers, advice and useful information”.
“The information night will also help us to develop a greater understanding of the issues facing migrant workers in Ireland and to come up with solutions that would help Migrant workers living in Ireland integrate more easily with their new communities”.
“Information will be available on Working in Ireland, Family Benefits, Employment Support, CV Preparation and English lessons. Organisations present will include Citizens information, The Department of Social Protection, European Employment Services, the Educational Training Board and the Regional Employment Service”.
Helen explains that the event is free and you can just turn up on the night.
This event is being held as part of the ongoing Co-operation between the European Employment Services (EURES) departments representing the various nationalities in Ireland and varying Government and Non-Governmental Organisations concerned with migrants in Ireland.
This event will take place in the Central Library Letterkenny on Thursday 7 July from 6pm to 7.30pm.
