Donegal corner-back Paddy McGrath has been named on the Hoganstand Team of the Week following his impressive display against Monaghan last weekend.
McGrath, was given the unenviable task of marking star forward Conor McManus for the Ulster SFC semi-final clash at Breffni Park last Saturday evening.
However, despite McManus landing some important and eye-catching scores from frees, he was limited to only one point from play.
That effort was a sensational score, but apart from that McGrath kept the livewire quiet from open play, and reiterated why he’s regarded as the best man marker in the game at the minute.
McGrath goes about his business without any fuss, but he’s probably one of the most underrated players in the game.
He’s a vital player for Donegal, and usually ends up man marking the opposing team’s best players, and he’s never exposed or found wanting.
Hoganstand recognized his impressive display and named him on their Team of the Week.
Hoganstand wrote, “Was handed the considerable task of trying to curb Conor McManus’ influence and he limited the Clontibret ace to one point from play.”
McGrath will again be asked to mark McManus for the replay this weekend, but the Ardara man will hold no fear following his impressive showing last weekend.
