Gareth Leslie from Killybegs is walking the Camino de Santiago in aid of Ireland’s Make-A-Wish foundation.
The trail stretches from the north west of Spain and snakes through France. Since leaving St. Jean Pied de Port on Friday, he has walked more than 140 kilometers.
He has a fundraising page which has already doubled its goal of €1000, and with SeaQuest Systems promising to donate €2.50 for every kilometer walked, his total amount raised so far is a staggering €2,360.
The Make-A-Wish foundation makes dreams come true for children between the ages of 3 to 17 with life-threatening illnesses. Since the foundation was founded in 1992, they have granted over 1,800 wishes in Ireland. Everything from meeting football idols to being a Disney princess for a day is catered for.
