Active Retirement Ireland and Home Instead were overwhelmed that nearly 400 people attended the first Marigold Festival to be held in The Mount Errigal Hotel in Letterkenny this week.
The festival was opened by Donal Kavanagh from Highland Radio. In his speech he encouraged all people to live their lives to the full, for no one knows what is around the corner.
Attending in his new role as Mayor of Letterkenny, James Pat McDaid was also in the opening party along with Mai Quaid President of Active Retirement Ireland.
There were over 25 trade and community stalls covering a range of interesting products and services. Two talks were given one by Victoria McKinny on Chiropractic for senior people and one by Sgt Paul Wallace Crime Prevention Officer for Donegal.
Musical entertainment was provided by Virgil Quinn whilst Karen Guthrie from Donegal Sports Partnership demonstrated a range of sports for older people.
It is hoped that another Marigold Festival will be held in the North West of Ireland next year.
