Tyrone and Cavan played out a cracking contest today in the first of the Ulster Semi-finals. Donegal play Monaghan in the other Semi-final this Saturday.
In what was a great advert for the competitive Ulster championship, Tyrone and Cavan played out a draw which was a fair result at the end of it.

Tyrone started slow which is very unlike the energetic Tyrone but to Cavan’s credit the breffni men put Tyrone to the sword in the first 15 mins and led 1-3 to 0-2.
Tyrone got back into the game well and with points from Ronan O’Neill and Colm Cavanagh, Tyrone were heading into the break two points up until a long direct ball which worked well for Cavan all day was fisted over the line, after the umpires spoke to the ref over their microphones as the ref played on.
With the ref awarding the goal he also blew his whistle for half time. Tyrone 0-8 Cavan 2-3.
Tyrone rallied after the break and were three up at one stage but the Cavan men never gave up and points from Seanie Johnston and goalkeeper Raymond Gilligan.
With normal time up Tyrone were three points up but as the cliché goes ‘it’s never over until it’s over’ and so was the case today when a long direct ball was launched into the Tyrone square and substitute Eugene Keating fisted the ball into the net to make it all square with less than 4 minutes to go in added time.
This means Tyrone and Cavan must face each other again to see who they will play in the Ulster final. The other semi-final takes place this coming Saturday when Donegal take on Monaghan in Breffni park.
