GARDAÍ say 23 people were arrested overnight – the majority of them for dangerous driving.
Garda Inspector Michael Harrison says the number of arrests over one night was almost the same as for the entire Donegal Rally weekend last year when 25 people were detained.
As we reported earlier, one motorist was caught doing 194km/hr – and another was doing 173km/hr.
However Inspector Harrison says the increased arrests reflects the substantial increase in the number of rally fans in the county this weekend.
Most of those arrested for dangerous driving were from outside the Republic.
Other offences included possession of drugs and assault causing harm.
All those arrested have been bailed to appear at Letterkenny District Court on July 4.
