GAA: Dungloe earned a vital win in their bid to ensure they retain their Division One status last night against fellow strugglers Ardara.
Tony Boyle’s side defeated Ardara on a score-line of 1-14 to 0-15 in what supporters said was played like a Donegal SFC clash, not surprising when there was so much at stake.
Donegal U21 star Adam Neely sustained a broken nose and a few stitches after an accidental clash in the first-half.
However, the game was marred by some nasty scenes towards the end of the match and CJ Molloy and Martin Redmond both saw red late on.
There was little between the sides but Martin Redmond’s goal proved crucial and was the difference between the sides.
Adrian Sweeney was inspired, and at 40 shows no signs of hanging up the boots, and why would you when you have still have the quality and class that he possesses.
This was a huge win for Dungloe, only their second in the league, and their first since their opening day win over Bundoran.
Ardara battled hard and they showed enough to suggest that they should be OK, but it’s going to go down to the wire with very little separating Glenswilly, Ardara, Dungloe, Bundoran and Termon.
Dungloe travel to Termon next weekend, but most certainly will be without Neely after his nasty injury.
