A search for a lost pedigree calf ended when a drone was used to find the missing beast.
The valuable six month old calf, had stayed from lands near Kilmacrennan last Monday.
Up to 20 farmers joined forces for up to five days to find the animal on foot but could find no trace of it.
Local photographer Paul Doherty decided to deploy his drone in a bid to track down the animal.
Paul, assisted by cousin Oran, launched his drone on Friday evening last but three initial camera searches found no trace of the animal.
And amazingly just minutes before the drone ran out of power, the pure white cow was found in an extremely remote area on the side of a mountain a few miles away in Termon.
Paul said “We had heard about these guys looking of the calf and we asked them if we could help. They were delighted.
“However, the initial three flights we found nothing. We knew the cow was white but we found lots of rocks and other cows but not the one we were looking for.
“Eventually we found our guy at the side of a mountain behind some bushes. It was great to find him and the farmer was delighted when we managed to locate him.
“Drones get a lot of bad press but it was great to be able to use it for some good on this occasion,” he said.
