FEATURES: A family fun day has been organised by the family and friends of a brave little 4 year-old boy from West Donegal, to help raise funds for Temple Street Children’s Hospital.
Family and friends are inviting young and old to the Banks Mullach Dearg this Sunday the 29th, for a fun day of activities beginning at 2pm.
Cian Mulligan, along with his family and friends, are hosting a Family Fun Day to raise funds to thank Temple Street Children’s University Hospital and Jack & Jill Foundation for the care they have shown him.
Cian Mulligan is a 4 year old boy from Dungloe, Co. Donegal. He was in receipt of care at his home from Jack and Jill Foundation until his 4th birthday, and currently attends Temple Street Children’s University Hospital in Dublin.
His family, and their friends, are extremely grateful to both organisations for the consideration and attention that has been afforded to Cian.
The comfort and care they have given him has been second to none and, together, they decided to come up with a way to raise funds for both charities, and thank them on Cian’s behalf for the tireless and valued work they do.
This Sunday, May 29th see’s a great day of fun and loads of activities including, It’s a knockout to a Cross Country Challenge and Go-Karting for the boys to a Princess Pamper Parlour for the girls and lots more on the day, planned for the Banks in support of Team Cian’s upcoming Dublin Women’s Marathon where a team of ten locals will take part raising funds for the outstanding charities of Temple Street Children’s Hospital and the Jack and Jill Foundation.
Cian’s mum, Majella Mulligan, along with a group of her friends and family, came together to form ‘Team Cian’ with a view to raising funds to donate to the charities. Some of the team decided to take part in the VHI Women’s Mini-Marathon in Dublin on June 6th, dedicating their fundraising to both charities. Under the title of ‘Team Cian’ some took part in WAAR in the Lower Rosses in mid May, with 2 members completing the full event, and 2 competing in the duathlon challenge. They also thought they might run a charity 5K in the run-up to the mini-marathon, as an extra community fundraiser. The 5K idea grew legs and extra events were added in. From this, ‘Cian’s Fun Day’ was born.
“Temple Street Children’s University Hospital & The Jack & Jill foundation provided excellent care for Cian and this fun day is a good way of raising money for two excellent services while having a great time for young and old” said Cian’s aunty Donna Boyle.
The local GAA club, Naomh Muire, were quick to lend their support. They offered to host the event at their grounds and assist with manpower in the lead-up and on the day. Businesses in the area have rallied around to sponsor resources and prizes. The local support has been overwhelming!
Team Cian are so very grateful to everybody who has helped them so far; from raising awareness of their fundraising to supporting them in the preparation for Cian’s Fun Day. The money raised on the day will be split between both charities. What goes to Jack and Jill will help families just like Cian’s by giving them the gift of time….time to go shopping, or spend with other children in the family, or simply enjoy a good night’s sleep, time other families might take for granted, but which is precious to the families of these special children. The money that will be donated to Temple Street is going straight to the new Neurological Department in the hospital, which so desperately needs funding to be able to sustain the level of care these children deserve.
“We hope to see everyone next Sunday, 29th, at The Banks in Mullaghduff, at what promises to be a fun-filled event for all the family!” – said family friend and event organiser Diane Robinson.
