Gardaí have issued a statement warning of the new measures.
“The public are advised (including the owners and operators of Model Aircraft & Drones) that a Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) has been issued over parts of the sovereign airspace of Ireland on 25th MAY 2016,” said gardai.
It goes on: “The Irish Aviation Authority hereby directs as follows:-
A restriction (temporary restricted area) on the flying of aircraft, including small unmanned
Aircraft as defined in S.I. No. 563 of 2015, shall apply in airspace over parts of the sovereign
Airspace of Ireland (in the vicinity of County Donegal).
Vertical limits: Surface to 5000 feet.
Duration: 0800 hrs. UTC to 1700 hrs. UTC on the 25th May 2016 inclusive.
The following are prohibited:
. Ballooning;
. Gyroplanes;
. Model Aircraft;
. Para-glider;
. Hang-glider;
. Foot Launched Powered Parachuting;
. Aerobatic manoeuvres;
. Gliders;
. Aerial Work flights including, but not exclusive to, banner towing, filming, photography,
Dropping of articles, aerial application and aerial survey; and
. Micro-light aircraft;
. Flight Training;
. Parachute Dropping
. Small unmanned aircraft (including model aircraft and drones).
