Cara Children’s Centre in Letterkenny has announced today that it will start delivering a free ECCE Preschool Sessional Service from this September, 2016.
Due to a lack of places in Letterkenny parents of children now entitled to the preschool year, who cannot find a place have requested it. The Children’s Centre is a part of Cara House Family Resource Centre, Letterkenny.
Children have to be three years and two months to avail of the free preschool year. Those reaching this age during the autumn term are eligible for places in January. There are likely to be very few places available then as crèches fill up in September.
Since 2011 Cara Children’s Centre has offered a drop- in crèche for younger children, with 12 places, at a cost of €5 for each two hour session. It is planned to continue this service and to offer the free preschool year as well.
Parents are advised to book their children in early both for these services and for Cara House afterschool clubs. During 2016 35 children have availed of the drop in crèche and almost 100 the afterschool services.
Susan McCauley, co-ordinator of Cara House, said, “We are so fortunate to have a dedicated team of fully qualified staff for Cara Children’s Centre. Their hard work has built a service that is valued by parents and enjoyed by children! We all look forward to this new challenge.”
Cara House FRC is funded by Tusla.
