FEATURES: A Buncrana girl has been selected to represent Donegal at Miss Ireland, after wowing the judges on Friday night.
After a prestigious final held in the Radison Blu Letterkenny, the unanimous winner was Grainne Gallanagh, who is 21 years of age from Buncrana.
Grainne is a student Nurse studying at the Letterkenny Institute of Technology.
There was a total of 27 girls that reached the final, this was then broken down to 15 girls, then final 7 girls.
There was no bikini round in this selection process, as this round has been removed by the Miss World organisation.
Second runner was Holly Duddy, from Letterkenny.
First runner up was Jessica McShane, from Buncrana.
The winner, Grainne Gallanagh will now go to the Miss Ireland 2016 final being held in Dublin in late August.
Grainne received an array of prizes which included the following : Aoibheann Walsh owner of the award winning salon G&G located on the Church Lane, Letterkenny, has kindly offered Miss Donegal 2016 unlimited Hair and Makeup for all Promotional events associated with Miss Donegal and Miss Ireland 2016.
Plus Unlimited membership to Fit Hub Ireland Ltd, Letterkenny and one to one nutrition with Neil Barrett MSc.
The Sequin Cinderella Boutique, Buncrana also sponsor dresses for the Miss Ireland event.
The Tipsy Nail Bar, Letterkenny has sponsored the girl with deluxe gel nail extensions, plus a deluxe pedicure. Starlashes & Brows Ramelton have sponsored a set of mink eyelash extensions.
The most Glamourous attendee was Sally O’Donnell, Letterkenny.
The Most Promising Teen was Kelly Marie O’Donnell, Derry. Miss Congeniality was Michaela Bradley, Buncrana. Best Smile was Emma O’Donnell, Letterkenny. Best Hair was Rebecca Nicell, Derry.
The Raffle winner of the 2 night break for 2 to Prague, courtesy of Liberty Travel Letterkenny, was won by Deirdre Crossan McShane, from Buncrana.
MCs for the night were brother and sister, Davitt and Aoibheann Walsh, who entertained the crowd superbly. The Judges for the evening were Dearbhla Walsh, the current Miss Earth Northern Ireland, (another Walsh sibling), also Nicola McLaughlin (The Sequin Cinderella), Zara McDaid,(Fashion Blogger) Emma Murray (The Fashion Chair), Tim Jackson (local Politician) Mairéad Gallagher (Fashion Blogger with Donegal Daily) and Jay Doherty (Northern Ireland Photographer of the Year 2016).
Live entertainment was provided on the night by Jacqui Sharkey who performed 3 of her songs that are on her current album.
Maria McCormick also performed songs from her album. Shane Flood played the accordion.
A thoroughly entertaining night was had by all.
