BABY STEPS WITH ÁINE: Hi everyone. I hope you’re all well and enjoying this glorious weather. This week I will be sharing my top 5 apps that will make the first few months a little bit easier.
Becoming a new parent is both exciting and terrifying. We often turn to books and online articles for reassurance, advice and tips. Although these are great, there are also a whole load of great apps out there that can help you along as well.
Here are my top 5:
You might already know about The Bump website. If not, you should have a look. It is brilliant, especially for first time parents. The app provides all of the helpful information from the website with some additional features.
You can use this from pregnancy and right through your baby’s first year. I am still using it now Ava is 9 months. It is definitely my favourite app.
Each week you receive notifications helping you track your baby’s growth and development. You can search through expert content and feedback from fellow mums and mums-to-be.
You can also upload your belly photos and see them unfold in a slideshow which I loved.
The Bump app is full of strange but interesting facts too!
Did you know, at 13 weeks your baby is the size of a peach?
BABY FIRST AID
I hope none of us ever need this one but it is so useful to have on your phone. I opted for the Red Cross App. I found it the easiest to use and it covered a wider range of topics than many of the other apps I looked at.
The first aid is taught through videos, interactive quizzes and a step-by-step guide which makes it easier to learn and remember.
The app also contains adult first aid and tips which is an added bonus.
WHITE NOISY BABY
Unfortunately not all new-borns are great sleepers! Ava was one of them.
We tried everything. Eventually we gave this a go and it worked wonders. It did only work for the early weeks. None the less, that was better than nothing!
It includes 20 looped sounds and 10 classical music tracks that help soothe and relax your baby.
We used this mainly for sleep however it can be used out and about if your baby needs some entertaining.
Ava’s favourite was Brahms lullaby. Hopefully your baby will like it too.
TINYBEANS
This app is great and fun! It is an online baby journal in calendar format, which allows you to track your baby’s development and capture all the special moments along the way. Whether it is your baby’s first smile, tooth or birthday, you can record it all through writing, photos or videos and save them for years to come.
You can watch your baby’s development through the slideshow feature or make a photobook with all your favourite moments.
It offers helpful parenting tips and articles and allows you to share special moments safely with friends and family if you wish.
It’s free, easy to use and definitely worth a download!
COZI FAMILY ORGANISER
I am not the most organised person in the world. That’s why I loved this app.
When Ava came along we had more baby appointments, classes and mummy catch-ups than I could keep track off.
It allowed me to record all my events in a calendar and manage my to-do-lists on the go.
My favourite feature is the option of sharing it with my partner Will. He has downloaded the same app and adds his plans, appointments and work meetings etc. It means we don’t double book and can forward plan.
Hopefully I have given you some inspiration as to what apps can help you along the way.
These are my personal favourites however yours might be completely different. That’s the beautiful thing about parenting. We can all learn from each other.
If you have any that you recommend, please comment below and I’ll give them a go.
Enjoy your weekend and thanks for reading.
