FEATURES: Loreto Community School will celebrate their 50th Anniversary this Saturday 14th May.
All students past and present are invited to attend to what promises to be a memorable night.
A great line up of events are planned for the day and finishing off with the Celebration Dinner Dance in the Mulroy Woods Hotel.

History of Loreto Community School:
In 1966 Sisters of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Loreto Order) opened a Secondary school in Milford.
The original enrolment was 41 students – all girls – boarders and day students.
In 1969 free education and transport was introduced for secondary schools.
Boys were welcomed for the first time and Milford remained through the years, the only Loreto school in the Republic of Ireland to enrol boys.
Student numbers increased dramatically through the following decades. Current enrolement is 800 students.
The status of the school changed to a Community School in 1996 when the Loreto Sisters departed, with the exception of the much loved, Sr. Colmbanus who only retired and left Milford in 2009.

The school has a proud record of achievement in a variety of extra-curricular activities including many different sports and has had numerous Ulster titles and National successes over the years including Ulster titles in 2016 for First Year Boys Soccer, Under 17 and Under 19 Boys Soccer teams. The Under 14 Boys Gaelic team also won the Ulster title in 2016.
Loreto Milford has a strong tradition of successful musicals over the decades staging shows such as Fiddler on the Roof; Viva Mexico; The Golden Years; Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat; Jesus Christ Superstar; Oliver; The Sound of Music; Our Day Out; Annie; Grease; Back to the Eighties; West Side Story; Calamity Jane and this year the musical staged was All Shook Up.
Consistently, Loreto Community School is placed at the top of the League Tables published by the National newspapers.
The success of Loreto Community School is largely due to the excellent relationships that have always existed between staff, students and parents.
